The singer was recently forced to deny the pair had already become engaged after Russell Crowe referred to Cherry as Ed’s “fiancee”.Ed said: “You know, he’s only met Cherry once and I didn’t introduce her… I didn’t say anything.

“I think he just assumed. But no, we’re not engaged.”

He captioned the snap: “Got me a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx”
